Name: Marina Martinez Hernandez
Study programme: MSc Molecular Techniques in Life Science, KTH, KI, SU
Role in iGEM team: Wetlab research
Fun fact: I dance cuban salsa! Or at least try to...
There are many sounds that I think are pleasant; the sound of the microwave (that means I can finally eat my food), the sound of popcorn popping, and the door bell ringing when you’re waiting for pizza delivery. But the sound that takes the prize is Marina’s laugh. It is hard to describe it, but it is bubbly like her personality. She’s a real trickster and has a couple of great pranks up her sleeve. However, she’s promised to keep it within the boundaries of iGEM. But until we’ve established any boundaries, show us your best tricks!
Marina knows how to live life to the fullest, and she’s always going somewhere. Her dream destination would be Thailand, since you have a mix of both hiking possibilities in the mountains and chilling on the beach. Plus, it’s pretty different from Spain where she’s from. “It seems so exotic, and the culture amazes me!”. However, something that she misses when she travels is croquetas. They are amazing. Like seriously. Try them!
Marina loves to learn new things, and that is one of the reasons for why she applied to be a part of the iGEM Stockholm team. Meeting new people and experiencing the jamboree in Boston is something that Marina wants to do, and to have fun at the same time!
Thank you for being a part of this year’s iGEM Stockholm team, Joker!
